I am weight training and im wondering if i should take muscle building supplements or just stick to shakes?
not creatine.i heard thats just like water muscle.
If you would like to hook up onto a great product that can lean you out.. and keep your muscle high…. go and check out the Isagenix site.. This product is amazing.. Once on the site.. go down the left hand side there.. and click on success stories… and on there.. hit athletes.. you will see many builders on the isagenix systems and their success …
I would stick to shakes.. but cleanse the toxins out first and get your cells ready for its nutritional travel… Good Luck… this is a great product for exactly this… D’Marko Blewett says it best… he says it keeps him lean.. and mean for his building shows… Super Cool.
Need help choosing a supplement for my weight training ?
I an 16 years old and i am trying to get stronger and build more mass. I currently take GNC 100% whey protein and MuscleTech Cell-Tech (a creatine product?. I am planning on using the Cell- Tech for a month and than taking a month off and I want something to take during that month off. Thanks
a month on and a month off is spot on! Optimal performance. Very impressive actually. You dont need to take any products while your on your month off, creatine products that is. Because u hav taken it for a month, your bodys creatine levels will naturally hav increased over that time. if u take it longer than a month they will dwindle away because they dont think their needed. The reason we cycle creatine products is too increase your bodys natural ability to create creatine. If u reli want more supps, try some BCAA’s (branch chain ammino acids) while you workout. Its a chain of protein, which will help with muscle growth. Also glutamine post workout is excellent (5g) of course added in with your protein and carbs.

Weight Training & Supplement Help?
Im about 11st and attempting to put on some weight and working out on a regular basis. Due to my fast metabolism i find putting weight on merely impossible ive been this weight since i remember. Any tips or suggestions or training or supplements?
It is a possibility to lose weight fast but you should be realistic and take on board that if you lose weight rapidly then you will almost certainly put it all back on again just as rapidly. The only diet that clearly delivered for me is wu-yi tea, it can be viewed in the resource box below, they have a small number of free trials in stock, it has been featured in Reader’s Digest and CNN. I melted away thrity pounds, it clearly does work!
Weight Training, Protein Supplements?
Ive been working out hard for the last three weeks and noticed some small gain of muscle which is a good start for me. Every time I was done my workout I would buy one of those expensive as hell after workout protein supplement drinks.
I want to workout today but am strapped for cash so after Im done my workout if I dont have any protein im not going to gain any muscle as if I did have it? Can I have protein like 50 mins after my workout and just eat when I get home?
yes but be sure to consume 1-2 grams of protein for every pound that you weigh eat like 10 egg whites before a workout and a can of tuna after you work out with a salad that works great the best protein comes from the natural source not out of a bottle
Bodybuilding: Stunts Teen Growth?
http://aappolicy.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/pediatrics;121/4/835
Strength training IS very beneficial for teens and has almost no risk when well supervised.
Strength training will NOT stunt a teens growth. According to the AAP, A well supervised strength training and fitness program has been shown to be very beneficial to teens in terms of bone strength, bodyfat reduction, cardiovascular fitness, cholesterol levels and mental health.
There are three things that will stunt your growth: steroids, some supplements, and poor nutrition.
People keep asking what supplements I recommend for teens. None!!!! I am firmly anti-supplement – *especially* for teens. I dont care if its creatine or Acai berries, my opinion is that if you have good nutrition you dont need any supplements. Its always best to get nutrients from their natural source rather than extruded from some machine in a factory. If you want creatine, eat meat! If you want Acai berrries, then eat the berries rather than taking some “berry-pill”. If you are concerned about maximizing your strength and mass gains then learn how to eat healthy, dont pop pills!

supplements i could take before/after weight training?
I am 16 years old, and am currently doing weights. I was told to consider taking protein supplements before/after weights. any suggestions? i was told to take ‘M muscle gain formula’ which is a protein powder, after my workout. thanks for your help!
watch what you take consult a doctor, supplements can destroy your liver, if not taken correctly that why i saw consult a doc. proper diet helps alot, i used to look at eating 2000 calories a meal, lots of carbs, protein, just before you work out take a protein drink/whey protein your mucles start building after your work out and they need that protein to build. i say take it before so its breaking down while you work out, amino acids help too, i wouldn’t take like nitro or other supplements like that unless a doc is monitoring your health, too much can cause problems with your liver and stuff. try to do 3 or 4 exercises for each muscle group less reps more wieght. i used to do a warm up of light weight 12 to 15 reps then a set of 8 then 6 the 4, or you could just do 4 set of 4, more weight each time. once a month work 1 group of mucles to fatigue, for example biceps warm up then start working up or down a rack of barbells say 50 lbs curls as many times as you can then pick up the next lower or higher and do it as many times as you can work your way down a rack 50 45 40 35 etc, remember only one muscle per month like this once your swinging like 15 lbs. are working down a rack do as many as you can to your muslce they still think your lifting 50lbs. what your doing is tearing/ straining the muscle using all its energy, this will make it build more musle/reserves. its what you do in weight training, when you work out you body build more after you strain your muscles lifting, by doing one a month your not over doing it, and it give your body time to recover, there is also a brand of meal replacement drinks that look pretty good it give you the correct amount of carbs/protien look for them at gnc or vitimin world or someplace like that

Are weight loss supplements dangerous or do they work?
I am doing some weight training for the first time. I love working out and want the best possible results. I’m seeking to become a personal trainer, do some excersise videos, and be in a few fitness magazines. Do weight loss supplements, such as hydroxycut or slimquik, really work? Are they dangerous for your body? How do they work?
Thank you kindly for answering. I appreciate you all.
theyre ripoffs… and they arent healthy for you..if you read fine print they tell you to eat right and exercise so that tells you that they dont work.. so its better just to do it the old fashioned way, eat right and exercise!
When should I take my supplements for weight training?
by the way I’m done with my five day loading phase with creatine so I’m on the regular servings now
I take whey protein, creatine, and glutamine.
I just wanted to know when should I take each of these supplements?
Creatine and whey is said to take immediatly post workout and im like so which one first and I heard you shouldn’t mix glutamine with creatine because it counteracts the effects of the other.
I just need to know when I should take each of these supplements.
Thanks,
Sazzy
Split your daily glutamine dose and take half when you wake up and second half before sleep. Or just take all in the morning.
Protein after workut.
But creatine you taking is old, there is a new creatine that doesn’t require loading or even cycling, it’s called: kre alkalyn.
It doesn’t convert to creatinine like creatine does, it’s much better.
If you decide to take normal creatine, the one you taking, take it 30 minutes before workout, because it doesn’t absorb fast, it will sit in your stomach for some time, it will start absorbing during workout and continue after, so it’s best to take it 30 minutes before working out.

What to do about my weight training/diet/supplements?
Im 31, 15 stones and quite a broad build through training, i’ve got a bit of a belly(nothing drastic) im wondering do i carry on training till im happy with my size then concerntrate on toning up or should i be doing everything together? At the moment im weight training and doing cardio which takes up 6 days a week. My diet is good but im wondering whether to invest in some proper whey protein and creatine that could possibly speed up the process. Am i doing anything wrong? I’d like o put on another stone or two maybe then tone up. Any advice would be great, many thanks..
don’t do diets. all it does is get you fatter or gain weight. but you get more healthier by doing that.try putting weights on your stomach to get abs. we work out ever 2 days
What’s an ideal diet +supplements for weight training.?
I have started training around 6 times a week, all major muscle groups. I am seeing some results, but feel I could achieve more.
I am eating Bran for breakfast +fruit. Carbs (pasta/rice) and chicken for lunch. For Dinner either chicken or turkey with veg.
I am also drinking a couple of whey protein shakes in the afternoon.
I am 12.5 stone, and 26 (male)
How does this sound, and how can it be improved???
Any help will greatly be appreciated.
Cheers
You’ve pretty much got it nailed!
Depends what your looking to achieve aswell. If you want to tone up then its a case of eating little to average portions regularly, say 3/4 times a day. But if like me your looking to bulk up a bit, you need to be eating 5/6 times a day, which isn’t easy!
8 hours sleep is crucial to weight training aswell dude! your body needs to recharge.
I always have about half hour before a gym session and whey protein afterwards.
If your eating chicken make sure its skinless, and try to avoid frying it, best way is fillets, wrap in foil and whack in the oven for about 35-40 mins at 180.
CHICKEN IS AWESOME!
Get your body trained to have raw eggs aswell. (free range – less risk of salmonela)
start off with one small egg for about 4 days then 2 then 3 and keep it about there. Makes an awesomely quick snack! It doesn’t taste very nice so just one bomb it! Cures hunger like a treat though!
Pasta and rice is good but make sure they’re wholegrain.
and whenever you see the word portion, it normally means about 300g.
Get some scales!
You can tell this is a bit spirratic! it’s just from what I’ve been told and what I researched off internet myself.
Most important thing though dude is the weights and technique, don’t get lazy!

I’m trying to drop some weight and get more defined what type of workouts and/or supplements are useful?
I’m currently about 20 pounds over what I want to weigh. I have started a routine swimming workout, but i think I may need more. I used to put alot of time in the weightroom and it just made me more bulky. Does anyone reccommend any supplements/diets/weight training that can help me?
Stop lifting weights, but work out your abs by doing sit-ups. Keep swimming, and run or ride your bike in addition. Don’t worry about supplements. The weight loss ones are dangerous and may not help in the first place. You need a natural regimen. I’m sure you’re not cutting down on the food, because the swimming routine isn’t enough and you’re not sure what you should do. In addition to doing what I suggested, you should eat extremely small portions and eat more meals per day. I know you’re thinking all of the exercise will just make you more hungry, but within two weeks you’ll realize that you used to eat too much.
i am 17 i do weight training and i use supplements to help me one called nitro tech and animal pak?
is this wrong because of my age or just wrong because i am taking both at once
First of all they are different types of supplements and you are at the right age to train hard and take some supplements so it is not wrong in anyway. Universal animal pak is a very good multivitamin(along with some other stuff) and i take it myself but i would ditch the nitro tech as well as any other muscle tech supplements you might take or consider taking(they are overpriced and there are better cheaper supplements). Get yourself some good whey protein(optimum nutrition has some relatively cheap quality products) and some creatine and you’ll be set. Once you get more advanced you can start taking some advanced supplements but wait a while on those.
Make sure you have a good diet and an intense training program or else the supplements wont work, or wont work to their full potential. You shouldn’t take supplements until your diet is perfect then you will see fantastic results. A multivitamin may be the one exception to this, but animal pak is an advance multivitamin that is quite expensive so unless your diet and training and perfect i would recommend a less expensive simpler multivitamin that contains basic vitamins minerals and maybe some amino acids.
Judging by your question i’m also guessing you don’t know much about supplements, so do some research and that will help you out a lot. bodybuilding.com is a great web site.
Also, don’t be fooled by people who say you don’t need supplements(they are almost right but not quite) as well as people who want you to take everything under the sun. Research supplements and find out what they do and how they work and why you need them. This will help you determine what to take and what to avoid.(avoid muscle tech and probably bsn as well)

Weight training supplements?
I’m starting quite a rigorous weight training regime. After workouts I’m taking a "recovery" drink (Recoverite) which I find is good. However, it "only" contains 10g protein per serving. Is it a good idea/necessary to also take on extra protein, e.g. whey, in order to meet my muscle goals? If so, when should I take on the whey?
Yes, you should actually consume more than just 10 grams after your workout, more like a minimum of 25 grams. The poster above is incorrect about supplements and eating enough – though many supplements really are junk, a good protein supplement such as whey can be very benificial.
Whey is a deritive of milk, and is the highest BV (biological value) protein available. What makes whey so good for bodybuilders is its fast uptake properties (high BV = fast uptake), which is very desirable after a workout. A good protein supplement such as whey will contain no sugar and very little fat, and have lots of vitamins and minerals. Whey is also naturally rich in aminos. Your post workout drink should also have carbs to help stimulate an even more anabolic state.
Your diet ultimately determines how much your muscles grow. 90% of your diet should come from whole food sources. A good start would be a caloric ratio of 40/40/20 between lean proteins, carbs and good fats split up over 6+ meals per day. This will maintain a positive nitrogen balance and keep insulin and glycogen levels steady. For hardgainers, an even higher carb intake may be necessary, such as a 50/30/20 split between carbs, protein and fats. You’ll have to determine for yourself what works. Ideally, you should be able to gain muscle without too much bodyfat, though some bodyfat growth is normal during gaining phases.
Another good time to take whey is 15-20 minutes before your workout as well as immediately after. Taking it before will help reduce the catabolic effects of exercises.
