I need to get rid of em cause I wanna be able to show off my body, and there’s gonna be a lot of girls there too =).

It’s not just going to depend on what you eat. Simultaneously, it will depend on how you train your body as well. A good physique (for most of us that have without super-model genetics) is only attainable through good nutrition AND a good, balanced workout.

Concerning diet. You’ll want to eat 5-6 times a day, which will keep your metabolism high. The regular 3 meals a day is a roller coaster ride for your body, which in the long hours in between meals does not function as efficiently. In addition, when you are very hungry you tend to eat quickly, and thus overeat. Eat a good, large breakfast. Oatmeal or healthier whole grain cereal is good, through in a banana and a scoop of whey protein powder and you have a completely great meal. (Whey protein powder is a milk protein and it’s great. It’s convenient and is a fast-absorbing protein, meaning the body can use it quicker than most other food-proteins. No matter what your fitness goals are, whey protein is a great supplement). No matter what, skipping breakfast is an awful idea, and many people go wrong here. I can go into further detail concerning the metabolism, but trust me, breakfast is key, so never skip it if you can. From here, choose a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables throughout the day, and be careful of what you eat. Always read the labels AND portion sizes before consuming anything. Stay away from processed carbohydrates and stick to whole grain carbs. Brown rice versus white rice, wheat bread versus white, etc. As you progress throughout the day, limit your carb intake. For dinner, try not to consume too many carbs. I’ll stop right here, and if you have any more questions you should do some more independent research. There are plenty of websites and message boards that you can find answered questions to. Just remember that the tried and true methods of keeping weight off have been proven, and "fad diets" don’t work.

Alright, here’s where you might be slightly disappointed. There is no such thing as "spot-reduction" and there is no way you can lose your "love handles" without losing the fat in every other area of your body. You can do thousands of crunches but you will only build up the muscle underneath the fat. Get plenty of cardiovascular exercise, shoot for about 3 hours a week. The human body learned very quickly to store body fat cells around the midsection primarily. Storing fat this way wouldn’t make the extremities heavy (good for hunting and escaping from predators). Anyway skipping the physiology lesson, fat is stored first at the midsection and is lost last at the midsection. So one of the reasons you may have muscular definition in the other areas of your body on not around your abs and obliques is because of this. Do plenty of crunches as well as oblique exercises. But focus primarily on your diet and cardio exercise.

Hope this helps and it isn’t too long!

    Rockguy,

I found a website that has some pretty good reviews on different weight loss programs. I got tired of looking all over the web for different reviews. It’s nice, they have them all in one place. Oh yeah, and they also have some reviews on programs that help you build muscle, too.

    Hope that helps! Good luck!
